Many business owners have heard of servers, but think that they are only for businesses with more than one website, or that they’re reserved for only very large businesses. While these are good reasons to use a heavy server, there are many other businesses that can benefit from the use of a server. Two main types are those selling software as a service (SaaS) or CRM software.
SaaS is a type of software that customers typically pay a fee for (weekly, monthly or yearly) and in exchange, they can use online software whenever they want. This software can be contact management software, accounting software, publishing software, or any other type. If people are going to be visiting your website, interacting with it and using it extensively while there, you’re going to need a dedicated server for several reasons.
The first reason is that with every person that uses your SaaS software will have a large amount of information that they’ll want to store on your site. This data will need to have a space for it, and typically this amount of storage is something only a server can provide.
Another reason why you’ll want to use a it for your SaaS is because you’re going to want to be able to accommodate as many customers as possible. If you have a great product and do a great job of marketing it, you could be looking at thousands of visitors coming to your website every day to use their SaaS account. The server running and storing the website will need to be able to handle that many people coming to the site; and typically, only servers have this capacity.
CRM, customer relations management, is one of the most popular types of SaaS online today; and businesses are making big profits when offering this type of service to their customer.
It is a great answer for business owners that want to run and maintain multiple websites from one server. But franchise owners and mega corporations aren’t the only ones that can benefit from these specialized types of servers. Anyone who needs to hold a lot of information on one server, or that expects a great deal of visitors to be using their website every day, also need to consider making the switch.
Both of these characteristics hold true for software as a service and CRM software. And that’s why website owners offering them must have a server.
